We are located in Piazza Spirito Santo, no. 19 in the heart of the historic centre, far from the chaos. To get to Rooftop 19 you can walk along Amalfi’s main street, studded with typical little shops and characteristic elements, to the very special ‘De Cape e Ciucci fountain’ in which pure water flows and where you can admire the small underwater crib sculptures. As an alternative to the main street, you can choose to walk along the narrow alleys, enjoying the narrow streets, historic arches, and unique ancient views of a village that has crystallised over time.
Rooftop 19 is located on the fourth floor of an apartment building. To get to the facility you will have to climb 83 comfortable covered steps. A luggage transport service is available at guests’ request.
De Cape 'e Ciucci Fountain
The De Cape ‘e Ciucci fountain is one of Amalfi’s most characteristic historical fountains. Particularly beloved by locals and visitors alike, it represents not only a valuable 18th-century urban decoration, but also a living reminder of Amalfi’s past: the centuries when the fountain was essential for watering the dummies (hence the name) that came down from the mountains laden with fruit, wood and vegetables. Entirely made of stone, the fountain is enriched by two figures of human faces sculpted in marble and, since the 1970s, by a characteristic submerged nativity scene designed by Amalfitans Giuseppe Buonocore, Vincenzo Livano and Nicola Pepe.
The Cathedral
The undisputed mistress of the artistic and historical scene in Amalfi is undoubtedly the Cathedral of Sant’Andrea Apostolo.
Regal with its precious bronze door, made in Constantinople, the Cathedral is an architectural complex comprising two communicating basilicas, a lower crypt, the staircase leading to the entrance hall, the bell tower and the Cloister of Paradise.
The Cathedral has an architecture that is influenced by Byzantine, Romanesque, Islamic and Baroque influences.
The Basilica houses the remains of the Apostle Andrew, to whom rituals and legends are linked.
